According to an analysis of the auto insurance quote requests of nearly 1.2 million Anikim.com customers in the second half of 2008, Americans who own Ford Broncos have more DUIs, DWIs, and other alcohol-related violations in their past than owners of any other vehicle.

During the Anikim.com quote request process, drivers share basic information about themselves, their vehicles and their driving records. According to these requests, the ten vehicles whose drivers were the most likely to report alcohol-related violations on their record were:

Conversely, the vehicle whose owners reported the fewest alcohol-related moving violations in their past was the Toyota Sienna. The ten makes and models that were the least likely were:

Overall, there was a strong correlation between the vehicle type a driver owns—truck, SUV, full-size van, minivan, coupe, or sedan—and the likelihood of an alcohol-related infraction in his or her past. While this data cannot be used to make definitive declarations about all drivers, generally those who own vehicles more often used by individuals, such as coupes and pickup trucks, are more likely to have had alcohol-related violations than those who drive traditional family vehicles, such as minivans.

On the list of “most likely” vehicles, seven out of the top ten are trucks or coupes, and most, including the Bronco, are two-door vehicles. On the list of “least likely” vehicles, four out the top five are minivans, as well as seven out of the top ten and 11 out of the top 20. The other vehicle types mentioned above were distributed evenly throughout the Anikim list and did not show a significant trend either way.
